Basic
Parties
What
makes SwordPlays Swashbuckling party's different? Our parties allow the children
to have hands on experience with sword fighting or to see live sword fighting
between their favorite hero and villain, up close and personal. Your child will
get the chance to meet and interact with them as well, and what's more the birthday
child turns out to be the ultimate hero! All of our instructors and characters
are professional actors who are auditioned and cast on their improvisational and
acting skills. They are professionally trained in theatrical sword fighting by
Tim Weske and SwordPlay studios, Burbank. The
basic parties are:
|
|
| The
Fencing Party | The
Pirate Party | The
Fencing Party
One and a half hours
at your home, two hours at our studio.
The
party comes with one to three fencing instructors or basic characters (number
of instructors depends on the number of children). The instructors show the children
how to stand, move, attack and defend (fencing style). They are shown target areas
and safety. Then they are suited up in the fencing gear (every child gets their
own set) and then they begin the fencing games. The games are played one against
one, one against a group, and group against a group. In the end, the birthday
child is challenged to a duel by the fencing master or pirate captain. At stake
is the coveted gold medal. The fencers square off, the birthday child wins and
the medal is awarded to your child as he/she is knighted by the instructor.
The Treasure Hunt
Party
One
hour at your home, one and one half hours at our studio.
Comes with two pirates,
and your choice of one of two scenarios.
Scenario # 1
The two Pirates burst into the party carrying a treasure chest. They are
arguing over who's chest it is and they are completely unaware of the
children. The argument escalates into a sword fight. The bad pirate is
about to win when they suddenly notice the children. The pirates tell
the tale of why they have the chest, that it is magically locked and that
they need to be in the land of a birthday child to be able to open it.
When they find that they are in a birthchild's land we learn that there
are 11 magic spells that must be performed in order to open the chest.
The spells are actually games that are played together. The games require
very few props. Just as the last spell is ready to be cast, the bad pirate
(who has been losing every game) decides that he wants the treasure all
for himself, and because sword fighting is the thing he does best, he
challenges the good pirate to another duel. The bad Pirate is winning,
but the children save the day by distracting him. The good pirate gets
the bad pirate's sword and wins! The bad pirate gives in, the last spell
is cast, the chest is opened, the bad pirate turns good, and the birthday
child is knighted and awarded the gold medal!
Scenario # 2
The
pirates arrive early and give the mom or dad the treasure chest. The parents
tell the pirates where the chest will be hidden. The pirates then enter
the party as in scenario # 1 except that they are arguing over a map not
the chest. The same story is given, bet instead of magic spells being
cast, the party starts on a treasure hunt. The pirates use their improvisation
skills in creating a story that will turn the normal everyday tree in
your yard, for example, into Merlin’s hideout. Or the big rock is
a dinosaur fossil. They go where their imaginations lead them. The treasure
is found and the bad pirate again wants it all for himself, the sword
fight ensues, the birthday child saves the day, is knighted, awarded the
gold medal, the treasure is split up and the bad pirate turns good.
